How to dropship luxury brands on Shopify, step by step

Lhira Marcial ·

To dropship luxury brands on Shopify, connect your store to an authorised designer-fashion supplier through its Shopify app, set up shipping for the supplier's location, choose your brands, set your margins, and let the app sync stock and forward orders. With Luxury Distribution's app, Luxury Brands Fashion Dropship, products sync within a few hours of choosing your brands.

This guide walks through each step using the Luxury Distribution app. The same order of work applies to most luxury dropshipping apps.

Before you start: what you need

  • A Shopify store on any plan. On Shopify Basic, note the 50,000-variant limit; after it, Shopify allows 1,000 new variants a day.
  • A niche. Decide whether you sell menswear, womenswear, bags, shoes or a mix. The catalogue holds about 18,000 products from 600+ brands: about 11,900 clothing, 3,100 shoes, 1,600 bags and 1,500 accessories.
  • A plan. Each plan opens a different brand list:
Plan Price Brands Products (estimate)
Lifestyle $125/month 231 6,500+
Premium $199/month 487 14,000+
Luxury $299/month All 600+ 18,000+
Enterprise $499/month All 600+, plus catalogue and shipping discounts 18,000+

Annual plans save up to 25%. See the pricing page for what each plan includes.

Step 1: Install the app and look around first

Install Luxury Brands Fashion Dropship from the Shopify App Store. On the billing page, choose "Skip to demo" to browse the catalogue and the app before you pick a plan.

Step 2: Sign up

Open the app under Apps in your Shopify admin. Enter your name and email, then the one-time password sent to your inbox. The app fetches your API credentials automatically and takes you to the Brand Filter page.

Step 3: Set up shipping in Shopify

This step is easy to miss, and without it products show as sold out.

  1. In Shopify, go to Settings → Shipping and delivery.
  2. Under the General profile, find the Luxury Distribution Dropship location.
  3. Click Start shipping if it appears.
  4. Add at least one shipping rate for every zone you sell to, or reuse your existing rates.

Step 4: Choose your brands

On the Brand Filter page, select the brands you want and save. The app builds a sync queue and imports the products within a few hours. Choose carefully: each change to the brand list adds to the queue, so finish all settings within 30 minutes of picking brands.

Step 5: Map categories and set your margins

The app places products into your Shopify collections and adds your margin per category.

  1. In Shopify, create one collection per category you want: Products → Collections → Create collection. Give it a title and description only. Do not add conditions; the app needs empty manual collections.
  2. In the app, map each Luxury Distribution category to a collection and set a margin factor: 1.2 adds 20% to cost, 1.3 adds 30%.
  3. Map all 73 categories. Send any you don't want to a temporary collection, and turn on New products as draft so they never go live.
  4. Optionally add a fixed shipping supplement per category, such as €6 on sneakers, €10 on handbags and €12 on outerwear, so your prices cover delivery.

Step 6: Or let dynamic pricing set your prices

Luxury brands discount differently, so a flat margin can over-price some items and under-price others. Dynamic pricing sets each price from the supplier discount actually available. It uses eight tiers, from a 7% markup on items discounted up to 10% to a 52% markup on items discounted 70–80%.

Example: an item with a €500 retail price and a €325 cost (35% discount) falls in the 22% tier, so its price is €325 × 1.22 = €396.50. Turning dynamic pricing on overrides your category margins. If the price reaches the retail price, the app hides the compare-at price automatically.

Step 7: Fine-tune sizes, currency and titles

  • Sizes: map our sizes to the size standard your customers use.
  • Currency: prices default to euro; switch to any of 100+ currencies.
  • Rounding: round to .00 or .99 endings.
  • Titles: add the brand name to product titles.
  • Sync settings: stop the app overwriting fields you edit yourself, such as titles or descriptions.

Step 8: Know your landed cost

Your cost is the product price plus shipping, VAT and, outside the EU, duties.

  • Shipping is charged per order by quantity and destination; see the shipping rates.
  • EU VAT: with a valid EU VAT number saved in your account, no Italian VAT is added to EU orders. Without one, 22% Italian VAT is added.
  • Outside the EU, duties and taxes are not included and DHL may contact your customer to collect them, so state this at checkout.

Step 9: Sell, and let orders flow

When a customer buys, the order appears in the app automatically. It stays on hold until you pay for it, so nothing ships before you are paid. Luxury Distribution then packs the item in Milan, ships it by DHL Express and pushes the tracking number back to your Shopify order. You can ship with your own labels.

Two rules to know: products sourced through Luxury Distribution may not be sold on eBay, Amazon or Shein, and stock and prices update automatically, with sold-out products removed by default.
